A solid intermediate sailor, I can add value to a rockstar boat as the token intermediate crew, or plug solidly into an intermediate level race crew.
None of my usual boats are doing the Pac Cup this year so reaching out to connect with the right boat/crew/skipper.
Experienced with foredeck (sprit, end to end pole, dip pole), mast, spinn trim, jib trim, pit, fair weather steering. Not a great main trimmer, though function well with direction in that position. Have been sailing since 2009, racing in the PNW Puget Sound since 2013. Have crewed 6 International Swiftsure races, including delivery to/from Seattle/Victoria BC, as well as other local overnight races in varying weather conditions. Have raced my own Catalina 30 a few times, taking 2nd or 3rd in each one.
Also, since I own a boat I have understanding and respect for your boat, and what it takes to pull something like this together, and will offer support above and beyond the average crew member.
Relevant Certifications/Courses include:
- Safety at Sea Advanced certification valid through 2022.
- Remote/Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification valid through 2021 (recently refreshed biannual certification)
- Various ASA certs from when I started sailing (101, 103, 104, 118)
- Random courses in splicing and sail repair
In addition, in the rest of my spare time, I volunteer for a local mountain search and rescue unit, and have training in emergency scenarios as well as hold a recently refreshed WFR. I also have experience with endurance in multi-day overnight backpacking in the back country (4 seasons), along with survival training.
As a professional project manager, I'm happy to contribute to planning logistics (gannt charts upon request :) )
As I have recently acquired a K9 to train in the SAR K9 unit, this is one of the last opportunities I will have to invest fully into a Pac Cup race, and am more than willing to discuss how I can help your boat and crew, including reasonable financial support. 2020 is the year to make it happen.
